Candi Borobudur
Borobudur Temple
Borobudur temple is located in Magelang Regency, Central Java.This Buddhist temple was built in the 9th century during the government of Syalendra dynasty. The architect was Gunadharma. Borobudur is a temple with ten levels. The first six levels are square. The next three levels are circular and the top level is a stupa. Stupa is the highest symbol of Budhism.

It was built by King Samaratungga of the Syalendra Dynasty. Currently, during the full moon in May or June, Buddhists in Indonesia observe Vesak annual ritual by walking from Mendut passing past Pawon and ends at Borobudur.
